Rusty Frank
Rusty, a Los Angeles resident, is being honored for her promotion of Art Deco dance forms by instructing thousands of students in tap and swing dance. In addition, her production of "Swing" in Los Angeles has introduced a new generation to the style of the era.

Fox Theater, Telegraph at 18th Street, Oakland
Thanks to the Community and Economic Development Agency in the City of Oakland, the neon sign and marquee of the Fox Theater has recently been restored and relit. We encourage CEDA to continue with quality and accurate period restoration on the interior of this historic theater and the adjoining building. Certificates of Appreciation are also being awarded to Erma De Lucchi, for her personal and unswerving dedication to the preservation and restoration of the Fox Theater and to the Friends of the Oakland Fox for their tireless dedication to this cause.

172 Parker Street Apartment Building, San Francisco
The art deco community appreciates the preservation by Mrs. Frances Biglieri of this outstanding 1933 building with classic deco features. Her love of quality and history shows in the restoration of the lobby with its pier mirror, original cast panels in silver and gold leaf, and the original light sconces.


Monterey County Courthouse - Church and Alisal Streets, Salinas
The art deco community appreciates the preservation of this outstanding building with classic deco features. The sculptures by Joseph Jacinto Mora are especially notable on the exterior of this federally-funded 1937 building.

Del Mar Theatre - Pacific Avenue, Santa Cruz
The art deco community believes it is very fortunate that this classic deco theater was saved after the Loma Prieta earthquake. The purchase and restoration of the interior and exterior to its former splendor is a credit to the foresight of the people of Santa Cruz.

Don Neely's Royal Society Jazz Orchestra
This orchestra represents one of the best in the Bay Area playing music from the Art Deco era. Their ongoing efforts to maintain a classic sound and promote ballroom dance signifies their devotion to the period. The ADSC has danced to their music for 20 years.

City Hall - 317 Broad Street, Nevada City
The city's restoration of this 1937 building, maintaining the original façade, gold leaf lettering, lighting fixtures, etc. is a prime example of quality preservation of the Deco era.
