Saturday, April 28, 2007 is the date for the Art Deco Preservation Ball, celebrating the Silver Anniversary of the Art Deco Society of California, at the fabulous City Club of San Francisco, 155 Sansome Street. There will be dancing on the upper floor to Don Neely's Royal Society Jazz Orchestra, with Carla Normand and Frederick Hodges. Plus a special performance by The Deco Belles and Rusty Frank. On the main floor, Continuous Cabaret with performances by Sara Klotz de Aguilar, And of course the 2007 Art Deco Preservation Awards. Yes, we are in VIA Magazine: Preservation Ball Videos - Present and Past ANNOUNCING THE ADSC PRESERVATION BALL The ADSC's Art Deco Preservation Ball will be Saturday, April 28, 7 pm - midnight, at the beautiful City Club of San Francisco, 155 Sansome St., SF. ABOUT ADSC: The ACSC is a non-profit organization that endeavors to increase public awareness of Art Deco and to preserve and promote the art, music, fashion, architecture and transportation of the era (roughly 1919-1941). The Art Deco Preservation Ball is held each Spring to recognize those who have preserved, or are in the process of preserving or restoring, Art Deco in areas including architecture, music and fashion. Past awardees include the Fox Theater in Oakland, the Hoover Tower at Stanford University, Palo Alto, and the Queen Mary in Long Beach. There will be a silent auction and a photo exhibit of Art Deco architecture in the Bay Area. The event is made possible in part through corporate and individual donors and sponsorship, with sponsors for this years event currently being sought. The City Club of San Franciscos mission is to promote active engagement and influence in civic, social and business areas. They focus their support on community service, appreciation of the City's arts, culture and culinary experiences to inspire fellowship at the Club. The Club is housed in a historic Art Deco building in downtown San Francisco, and the interior includes a major mural painted by famed artist Diego Rivera, known for his work during the Art Deco period. |
